First, we would like to welcome subscribers of the Billing & Collections Adviser to the Simon's Says newsletter! Last month was our last issue of that publication as we have now combined it with Simon's Says, our longest running monthly newsletter. You can look forward to all the same content you received in the Billing & Collections Adviser and more - client news, industry and compliance updates, community outreach, and helpful suggestions for A/R professionals! As always, we aim not to clog your inbox and will only send you one newsletter each month. If you have any suggestions on content you'd like to see in the future, please send us an email at newsletter@simonsagency.com.
A Message To Our Clients & Friends
As you know, Simon's Agency has embraced a remote working environment and continues to work our clients’ accounts with an emphasis on giving your patients and customers the empathy and flexibility required during the current crisis.
Even with this concerted effort, we have found that many consumers are still willing and able to pay their bills. Whether they are still working, realizing savings from travel and recreation, or utilizing their stimulus checks, plenty of consumers are turning their attention to reducing their debt.
For those struggling to make ends meet, Simon’s is still allowing consumers to pause their payment plans or request a general contact deferment until they get back on their feet. Our staff is trained in the use of emotional intelligence and is helping ease the burden of debt for those who need it right now. Simon's will continue to do this throughout the duration of the pandemic and during the following recovery period.
Simon's is still actively accepting placements while managing our clients’ accounts. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us as you normally would. Simon's is here for you!

Proposed Bans on Medical Debt Collection
Finally, please be aware of various resolutions and bills being presented in the House and Senate that would effectively ban debt collection for medical accounts for the duration of the crisis and an extended period beyond throughout the United States. This could amount to no less than six months if not a year or more! These proposals have been drafted with no input from healthcare providers nor the accounts receivable companies that work on their behalf. While some legislation is important during this crisis, these resolutions would severely impact the operating income of healthcare providers that certainly cannot afford to lose any more revenue right now. They would also effectively put hundreds of thousands of employees out of work and would force a large number of agencies to shut down permanently. Our collective voices need to be heard on the Hill! Please write or email your Congressional representatives and express your opinion on these pieces of proposed legislation.
