Giving Thanks this Holiday Season

As we find ourselves closing out November it’s hard to believe another year is about to fade into the sunset.  But before it does, the marvels of the holiday season begin to transition our world into a slightly surreal land of decorations, parties and bliss.  What better way to start this season than gorging ourselves on the sustenance of food and spirit?  Besides the obvious tradition of having your family and friends join you in surrounding a giant meal on Thanksgiving Day we also task ourselves with thinking about what we are thankful for and generally can find a moment of growth in doing so.

Simon’s Celebrates and Raises Money for Local Charities with a Little Help from Our Friends

On the evening of October 20th Simon’s Agency opened its doors to the Central New York community and its clients with a celebration commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the agency and the grand opening of its brand new state-of-the-art call center in Liverpool.

Ambassadors to Central New York Businesses

One of the many great aspects of our membership with CenterState CEO in Central New York is the Ambassador Program in which our local sales executives participate. CenterState CEO is a regional business leadership organization, chamber of commerce, and economic development strategist based in Syracuse, New York. Members of the Ambassador Committee attend a short monthly organizational meeting and then act as “goodwill” ambassadors who provide recognition and appreciation for local businesses. They attend special events and present a certificate of recognition for grand openings, ribbon cuttings, special events, and more. According to CenterState CEO’s Director of Member Services, Sharon Abert, “It’s a great opportunity to be able to celebrate businesses in our region who are deserving of recognition for all kinds of success. I, as well as the volunteers on the CenterState CEO Ambassador committee, are passionate about the recognition provided. It means an awful lot to a business owner or manager to have a group of these volunteers come in and extend congratulations, present a certificate and take a picture for an upcoming newsletter.”

Lest We Forget: A Call to Observe the National Moment of Remembrance this Memorial Day

As we head into Memorial Day weekend this year and venture off to our family clambakes, beach openings, and other celebrations that mark the beginning of most of our summers, let us take some time on Monday to remember those brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the armed forces of our great nation, and subsequently what they have given to each of us in their selflessness. Without these generous and remarkable souls none of us would have the freedom to pursue our summers, let alone our lives, with such hope and optimism that many of us will have the chance to enjoy this weekend.

Simon's Employee Plays for a Cause

Our very own Chrissy Alexander will be performing at the Paper Mill Island Amphitheater, this Sunday, May 17. This charity event will benefit pediatric cancer research at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital and the Jonathan Cancer Fund.

All the way from the Pacific-Northwest, Chrissy brings to the stage a taste of Nashville and a little bit of edgy Southern Rock. Other local acts will be performing throughout the day leading up to the main event of the evening. Chrissy will join the TJ Sacco Band at 7:00 pm prior to Nashville Recording Artist, Craig Morgan.

Celebrating Earth Day Every Day

As we collectively turn our attention to the environment this Earth Day, 2015, it’s important to remember that there are many things we can do as individuals to help improve our own living conditions and impact on our local environments as much as the Earth itself. Perhaps we are all guilty of spending too much time on the data and finger-pointing to simply consider our own individual impact on our environment. Sure it doesn't move the needle much on the entire Earth’s scale, but it certainly moves the needle in our building, our neighborhood, our town, and so on. If we all just gave a bit of ourselves, perhaps we could start to move the needle in a big way.

A Proud Alumnus Gives Back

This fall, Simon’s Agency, Inc. president and owner, Phil Bova, was happy to visit the halls of his former elementary school and lend some support to a school that holds a very special place in his heart.  Mr. Bova often credits the education he received at St. Margaret’s School (Mattydale, NY) for creating the foundation of his math and reading skills that allowed him to excel in life as an adult.   He also credits his former science teacher, Janet Lansing, with inspiring his continued involvement with the school.
